Our Partners

It is our goal to provide support to children in need.

Every year we receive a very large volume of requests for financial support, sponsorship and/or product donations. In order to maximize the available funds and products, we have chosen to pledge and focus our support to the Starlight Children’s Foundation for 2013.

Along with our Vendors, Customers, Stores, Head Office and Distribution Centre, Employees also contribute and are encouraged to corporately support our partners. In this way, we are able to have a far-reaching impact and support children in need throughout Canada.

In additional to our National partners, we are proud supporters of many other charities in our communities, including donations of baby products to local women’s shelters.

Toys"R"Us Canada is a proud sponsor of the annual Santa Claus Parades in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Every year the toys featured on the Toys"R"Us Santa Claus Parade float in Toronto are donated to the Sick KidsHospital.

Supporting the Special Needs Community

At Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us Canada, one of our areas of charitable focus is supporting children with special needs and the broader community of their family and caregivers.

A key part of supporting the special needs community is helping to foster inclusion.

TOYS“R”US TOY GUIDE FOR DIFFERENTLY-ABLED KIDS

Toys“R”Us U.S. pioneered the annual Toys“R”Us Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids^®, a resource featuring specially selected toys that aid in the development of children with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities.

• In partnership with the National Lekotek Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the world accessible to children of all abilities, we assess the play value of hundreds of toys for children with special needs.
• As safety is also a cornerstone of our business, the Guide features a section on “Safe Play Tips for Children with Special Needs,” created with guidance from leading safety and special needs organizations to help avoid playtime injuries.

Keeping Kids Safe

We know that a child’s safety is a parent’s #1 priority. It’s ours too.

Our commitment to the safety of babies and children is non-negotiable. As such, one of the core charitable goals of Toys“R”Us is to keep kids safe.

We are very proud that our Employees across the country share in our Company’s charitable goals of keeping children safe and help them in times of need. We encourage our Employees to personally reach out to support our partners.

 

IN-STORE CAMPAIGNS

During our annual fundraising campaigns for both Starlight Children’s Foundation and Autism Speaks Canada, our Employees donate their time and energy to raising funds in our Stores. 

 

HEAD OFFICE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTRE FUNDRAISING

Our Head Office and Distribution Centre Employees do their part for charity by organizing and participating in raffles, auctions, bake sales, gift wrapping events and other creative endeavors to support our charities. 

 

Donate to Starlight Children's Foundation Canada

Starlight Children's Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. Working with more than 130 hospitals across Canada, the Foundation provides an impressive menu of both in-hospital and outpatient programs and services. A leader in delivering distractive entertainment therapies, worldwide over 85,000 children benefit from Starlight's programs each month and over 12,000 in Canada alone.

How we help

• Each year in November and December our Employees and Customers raise funds through the sale and purchase of Starlight Stars in Stores and online.
• We are the proud Presenting sponsor of the annual Starlight Foundation Gala which raises more than $800,000 annually.
• Toys"R"Us also supports "hospital happenings" and sponsors a series of initiatives for Starlight parents and families including:
• 44,000 Starlight Fun Kits were sent to children in healthcare facilities across Canada in 2015.
• Over 350 Starlight Fun Centers are currently in hospitals throughout Canada. With each gaming system being played over 5,000 times a year, it means children in healthcare facilities across Canada used our Fun Centers over 1.2 million times.

Since our partnership began in 1998, Toys"R"Us Canada has donated more than $16 million to the Starlight Children's Foundation.
