This advent calendar had a lot of fun surprises. They were unique enough and left my kids excited to open each day. The pieces are standard Polly Pocket sized pieces. The Polly Pocket characters do not bend and when we put one of the characters in the car we broke her in half! Luckily, the the character snaps back together. However, it would be nice if the characters were standard characters that are able to bend at the waist to sit in the car and on chairs, etc. Although the calendar pieces all came together at the end once we saw the house, it was a little confusing as to what we were getting at sometimes. We had a lot of shopping/mall pieces but we thought it was just a house! Once we got to open the whole house at the end we realized there were different levels with different themes. I think a title such as, &quot;village&quot; or &quot;shopping plaza&quot; would've helped us better envision what we were building towards. It did seem like a lot of shopping mall pieces but in fact has several different themed pieces! I like the idea that even though you&rsquo;re only opening one at a time each item is still enough to play with. The numbers work so that you aren&rsquo;t left with an item that can&rsquo;t be used. We got the advent calendar the year previous as well and I absolutely love that they changed most of the peices and the house looks completely different. She loved the surprise element of the advent calendar and &ldquo;decorating&rdquo; the clip on tree. There is so much variety in the pieces that you get everyday from furniture, to decorations, to a car! My daughter loved opening a new accessory for her Polly pocket friends each day, and especially loved that at the end the calendar is a play set house! One of the best part of this advent calendar is the plastic gingerbread house instead of just a cardboard playhouse, making it durable. It comes with two Polly pocket dolls and best of all, a lot of fun accessories. It is a 24 countdown calendar, making the anticipation to Christmas at bay. This little house does not take up a lot of room. If you are traveling, this would be easy to transport. This calendar was an instant hit with lots of squeals and giggles. It would also be a great gift to give on Christmas Eve. Honestly, the quality varies. Some are just filled with cheap plastic parts that don't change from year to year, others really do vary from one set to the next. Well, put this calendar in the latter category! My daughter recently discovered Polly Pocket toys, and is obsessed. As a parent, I love the way she plays creatively and makes up her own adventures. Which brings us to this advent calendar. One of my favorite features is that it's not just a bunch of trinkets or toys. After the holiday season is over, the calendar itself transforms into a house, so the play can keep going! I also like that each day is in a sealed compartment of its own, so the pieces don't get mixed up and fall to the bottom of the calendar. She'll really enjoy this set, and it will combine seamlessly with the other Polly Pocket toys she has.
