There are 324 pieces and while it took some time to build, the end result was great. The Spartans already came pre-built. The suspension on the warthog is a cool feature as well. This is a great building toy for children who like these type of projects. The base of the vehicle seemed to take the longest but once that was finished it was smooth sailing the rest of the way. My daughter really enjoyed putting this together. My 8 year old loves building with blocks but until this was his first &quot;set&quot; with instructions. I loved how all the blocks were separated in bags and then the directions were stepped out. There's 52 steps to assembly. He made it through the first couple steps before he ran into issues. I pulled it apart and tried it because I couldn't figure out where he went wrong. I made it to step 8 and couldn't get past that. Passed it along to my husband, he made it to step 17 before throwing in the towel. This set is not ideal for 8 yr olds that are considered advanced beginner bikers. It's also not ideal for moms that have never put together more than 50 or so piece of block sets. Dads with big hands and sausage fingers probably shouldn't attempt either. We tried. It was fun while we were able to follow along but the instructions, while they look easy enough to follow - they weren't. It was hard to tell what went where once enough pieces were involved. This set is probably considered more for experienced builders. Definitely not for beginners. My husband and son built this together over three nights - it would likely be hard for child under 10 to do this set independently. Our kids are really into building toys, but my husband said this one was pretty challenging! Our son has played with it daily since it was completed. My son had a great time putting this together. Instructions were pretty easy to follow and pieces worked the way they should and stuck together well. The figures are super detailed, pre built, and poseable. They look fantastic! The Wart Hog vehicle exceeded my expectations. My son loved that he could customize it with the flames instead of the basic green. The weapons are detailed and true to the Halo franchise. My kids have played with it non-stop since its arrival! Excellent playability! He really enjoyed putting it together but he did need my help because it has so many pieces. It is made very well and is very sturdy.
