The balance of the treble and bass is perfect. More recent models are not nearly as pure, the sound quality is not at all what it used to be. Plugged in the sound is EVEN more beautiful. I've tried the XL, the champion buds, and the Positive Vibration Frequency and they do not meet this same quality. They sound good, look good and feel comfortable although, like other reviewers, I have had enough of wearing them after an hour or so. However I bought them with 2 specific requirements and they have failed on both counts: 1) Sustainability. This brand was held up as taking sustainability seriously, yet the headphones come in a box with a plastic window, plastic interior and magnets embedded in the cardboard to hold the outer flap shut. Not acceptable! 2) Travel. The headphones fold and, when folded, the metal surfaces contact each other. This is my third pair of Marley headphones, they&rsquo;re so good I keep coming back for more. Recently upgraded to their Bluetooth version to pair with my iPhone. However, apparently I sound bad on the mic (but I hadn&rsquo;t planned on using the mic on them until my work headphones broke. Also, the wire for connecting them was too short so I&rsquo;ll have to buy a USB adaptor. Charges quickly, but seems to stop working before I expect charge to run out (could be a Bluetooth issue). They've worked perfectly for 6 years of daily use, despite a few soakings which they bounced back from once dry and multiple 'drop tests'. I've had to swap the ear-pads once as the pleather will eventualy peel after a few years. I'm finally having to buy replacements as the battery or charging circuit has failed, though with the aux cable they stil sound as good as when I got them. Gotta say that quality and materials are topnotch. Maybe hinge plastics could be a little bit better couse of of them cracked - but still works good tho. Sound quality is alright, most of stuff i listened to sounded alirght. Issue which birngs me to give only 3 stars out of 5 is comfort, which is quite low. I can't listen to music for more than an hour or so couse my ears will be on fire, for serious - they are in pain. And I do not have big ears overall.
