The world of early geometry skills takes shape! Kids craft their own 2-D and 3-D shapes during STEM-filled play sessions with Geomakers, one of the hands-on STEM Explorers activity sets from Learning Resources. The set's included activity guide comes with 10 brain-teasing challenges, which help kids boost early geometry, critical thinking, and fine motor skills as they build shapes piece by piece. Challenges feature progressive difficulty, and move from simple tasks like building shapes to more challenging tasks like designing and building bridges to help friends cross from one side to the other. In addition to STEM challenges, Geomakers also supports independent, open-ended play; this 59-piece set comes with enough sticks, curves, and connector pieces to help kids build triangles, rhombuses, trapezoids, or whatever wacky shapes they might dream up. STEM Explorers: Geomakers adds hands-on fun to math lessons, and helps kids build shape recognition skills every time they play.

Great for many ages
I'm about to purchase my third package of geomakers. I have three kiddos (ages 7, 5, and 2.5) that all love playing with these. The older two can both follow the building instructions and ideas on the provided cards, but usually like to build their own creations. For our soon to be three year old of course its all free creation and play, but he has no trouble maneuvering and assembling the pieces (and attacking his siblings with the creatures he's created). They all like to make buildings, spiders, planets, etc. They come up with all kinds of things. We haven't had any issues with pieces breaking. We have another little one (still an infant) that I'm sure will enjoy them just as much once she's old enough to play with them. I anticipate them being a staple in my kid's homeschool and play for years to come.

These are very fun and my preschool class really enjoyed them. I bought 2 of these sets around November as a Christmas gift for my class. Unfortunately more than half the rods have ends broken off. My preschoolers are very careful and well behaved. This is a poor design. Would love replacement or money back!

Too cheap and fragile for a Kindergarten child
I was very disappointed with this product. It is incredibly fragile and while intellectually appropriate for a 4-6 year old, it is much too delicate. My 5 year old was so excited to play with it but found it very hard to push the tiny pegs of the rods into the balls. I also had trouble with this so it was not a huge surprise that while trying to build our first shape one of the tiny pegs snapped off into the ball. Unfortunately this made both the ball and the rod unusable and since the set includes no duplicates, the entire set is now essentially unusable. It’s a fantastic concept, but poorly and cheaply designed and a total waste of money.

8 year old loved it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 8-year-old autistic son and 7 year old niece absolutely loved this product. Inside the box was a booklet showing different shapes to make so they were able to go through and replicate what the book was showing. The only downside was one box was not enough for both of them to make everything they wanted. So I would suggest at least a box per child. My four-year-old also loved it. He didn't so much follow the instructions, he just did free play and let his imagination go wild. This was a great product for our household and I will be looking into the other options that are available
