The Piece count for the value overall is fantastic, and it's a great build experience. All of that said, I would like to have seen just a few other things from such a high part count. I would have been happier with a slightly smaller dragon if the Head and claws were brick built rather that the molded head pieces we see in many of the recent dragon releases. Claws, too, could have more parts that make them unique. Individual scales would also have been a step above. It all feels like a missed opportunity with a part count that high. With only six minifigs, it felt lacking -- One more hero fig might have been nice. As other reviews have stated, for a set called the Source Dragon of "Motion," it doesn't have the range of motion one would expect. Also, due to its size and weight, its static poses are limited just to keep it stable. Overall, I appreciate the challenge of balancing size, stability, and motion, and think the design team did a beautiful job! The addition of the throne makes it an impressive, eye-catching display, and I like that the throne is easily removable. It's a gorgeous Dragon on its own. Highly recommend!
Date published: 2024-09-19

Rated 5 out of 5 by KoolHandDan from Solid Dragon I've build about most of all Ninjago dragon sets. The largest ones can have trouble standing with the weight, but not this one. Wings are on point and the whole build flowed very easily. But there are flaws. This set is very cool looking. The size of it is awesome, and from a visual stand point, I don't have any complaints, 5/5. My issues come from the playability of the set. For starters, if you want to fly the dragon around, you're unable to put the front legs back, because they get blocked by the wings, so it ends up having the front legs just dangling which I find looks weird. Secondly, is the tail. With the exception of the first joint, the tail is cannot move up and down, only to the side, which can limit the ways you can display it as well as play around with it. Lastly is that you can't make the dragon look down. Like at all. This is what I find the most unfortunate, as the dragon is so large/tall, not being able to have it look down is a bummer. I get why it's not able to look down, if you remove the piece preventing it from looking down, the head becomes too heavy and cant stay up on its own. Though maybe a different design for how the head is build could've been a better solution. (Also the gold parts at the start of the body is preventing the first neck joint from being able to bend down too). All that being said I do still think this is a really cool set, and would definitely recommend it if you're into dragons as I feel the pros outweigh the cons.
Date published: 2024-08-19

LEGO NINJAGO Source Dragon of Motion Ninja Playset, 71822 Reviews - page 2

y_2024, m_11, d_20, h_14

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_1, bvpage1

co_hasreviews, tv_0, tr_31

loc_en_CA, sid_641CD8EF, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 5ms

reviews, product
