I had a great time and when I discovered there were sets with themes targeted to adults, I decided to try this one because it was just so attractive. I loved the koi fish, and thought the moveable trees were a great idea - in effect you can make it look different every day, and I do move them around. The tea ceremony is beautiful, and I like being able to lift the roof off the building and peek inside. While of course I have no basis yet for comparison with building other sets, I found the instructions pretty straightforward, and the set strikes me as being very well thought out and designed. I actually enjoyed the build, although half way though I was struggling to see how it would become the lovely picture on the box (or how the trees and hut fit onto it!). I always read the negative comments before I post and see whether any of the things resonate and one of them would be the water. As I did the build I thought it was looking a bit naff, but once it's framed with everything else it did look a lot better. The bridge was an interesting twist, never done anything like that before. And while there were small bits that were a bit 'boring' generally it was fun to put together (took me about 3.5hrs). How does it look? Pretty is the simplest way to describe, I look forward to some tinkering and adding some colourful plants (could do with some orange, yellow, bright red like the plum blossom)! Finally I would like to add a positive general comment. I'm new to Lego, i've done about 10 builds in the last 3 months from boxed sets. I only have one thing I wish was a little different, I wish the bricks that are the bed of the stream were lighter. I absolutely love the blue color of the water bricks but you lose that color since the under bricks are so dark. One day I will get in there and switch them out.
