While I would have been happy just buying a re-release of the original set, this is a great modern take and I&rsquo;m very satisfied with it! When it&rsquo;s built, it&rsquo;s sturdy, has great features, a bunch of mini figures, and is an overall fantastic kit. I personally would prefer less smaller pieces, but I understand that&rsquo;s a standard of these 18+ kits. I think the only thing I really would change is making the epaulets classic yellow instead of the modern gold, just so they fit in better with the classic mini figures. If you love Pirate Lego, can&rsquo;t recommend this enough! Cons of Eldorado Fortress: 1) For some reason three of the Bluecoats minifigs are female. I understand Lego has a commitment to diversity. But the decision to include female minifigures gives the set an ahistorical appearance and breaks continuity. Everything else about this set is historically accurate: muskets, epaulets, goblets, cannons...except female Bluecoats. This set is supposed to represent a European fort in the 18th Century Caribbean. Would be nice to see future sets have females portrayed in historically accurate dresses or perhaps include both male and female heads to customize. To wrap up, a charming, customizable fortress brimming with details and hidden nooks. However the female bluecoat minifigures breaks the historical immersion and continuity of the set.
