Then I built it. There are core design flaws, both technically and aesthetically. Technically, the wings on one side droop. I have looked at other peoples sets, and they all seem to droop on one side. I swapped the blades and same result. Rechecked the build, same result. I can only assume a design flaw in the piece itself. The wings do not flap well at all. Again, in several videos it can be seen that the rear wings struggle to flap. Aesthetically, the cinematic ornithopter is gorgeous, however, the beauty of this set has been significantly sacrificed to allow for technicality that has unnecessarily taken over the build. It looks like a bolted together junkyard version. And to add to the insult to its appearance, red parts on show. Why red!? They are hideous, and a pain to replace once the craft is built. Let's get that out of the way first. The techniques and mechanisms were quite interesting and very enjoyable to build. But the set has a few issues. The biggest issue I have, is that all the new wing elements came warped. They all bend to one side. And they all bend the same direction. This is fine for one side of the craft as it is somewhat hidden by the natural give from other components, but on the other side it is accentuated by the same give in the mechanisms. The second issue is that this model is peppered, once again, with technicolor technic axels and technic pins. The instructions are clear but the mechanism that flaps the wings does not seem to operate correctly. It was only by reviewing other review sites that I realized that my construction was probably correct. I wish there was some way to stand the mini figures such as an extra Lego flat piece. If you don't have a flat surface they won't stand up.
