They love that it's over 800 pieces and it takes a little bit to build it. They can build it together and spend time playing together. It is battery operated and can pick up things and move them around. They love it! I recommend you buy it. There are so many pieces. They decided to sort the pieces before they started the construction. I think it took as long to sort as it did to complete the project. The instructions were very easy to follow. It took three days working two to three hours a day to complete. They had a blast. My granddaughter is completely captivated with moving parts. The kids handed me the pieces and we put it together step-by-step. There are so many small pieces and I recommend getting a tray or similar to put them all in for constructing to keep track of them. Once it was put together, what a tall sight it is; All those pieces working together as one!! There are 2 ways to control it, one with the remote and the other manually turn to change the direction of the arm/rope. When not playing with it, my kids will walk by it just to examine and turn the arm around. This Controlled Crane is hours of fun for my kids. The &quot;loads&quot; it came with are a little flimsy (thick paper like) and it might be worth it to create your own light loads for lifting. We have had hours of fun building this crane. My 10 year old son has made this his project in the evenings and even my 6 year old enjoys &quot;helping&quot;. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. We did spend a little over a week building this but we worked on it after school. It's a great creative learning set and he loves the motorized effect of the crane and the thought that he literally built this. This is his first Knex set and we will be adding more! Its alot to put together but a ton of fun. My son and I played with this for hours and never once got bored. It a great time assembling and playing with it. I'm 30 years old and I felt like a kid again making it all work. He loves to create and build. It was a lot more advanced than i thought it would be. With our help he was able to get it going. Some parts need extra hands and some of the instructions need an adults eye. Was a great day for our family building this. The boys surely had a blast. Felt like a million pieces but after awhile they started to see their progress and couldnt stop. Took them about ten hours to complete it and boy was it fun. Pieces were a but hard to snap into place but that was expected for the structure to hold once being built. Battery operated was a plus as his father works construction.
