They love these, especially my 3 year old. He loves that they are easy to pull back. They work on hardwood/vinyl and carpet. We havent had any issues with them on any surfaces. This Hot Wheels Pull Back Racer is super fun. Just pull it back and watch it go. It even works well on carpeting. He is able to pull it back pretty easily and loves to watch it face across the kitchen floor. Durability is pretty solid as it's been run into the wall head-on several times with no issues. The racer is bright yellow with a custom Hot Wheels flame decal on the sides. He just pulls back, lets go and it races across the floor. There are other color and style options to purchase and collect, so he could hold races with his friends! This is a great toy for kids who love hot rod type cars. The racer would make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas. When pulling back for the first time, the drive mechanism broke, which was disappointing. I unscrewed the top shell of the car and saw that the two halves of the gearbox had separated into two sections, and that the gears that wind the spring when the car is pulled back were not engaging with each other. Pushed the two halves back together and it works great. This is a fully plastic car. It pulls back with ease and when you let it go it will go fast and far. It works well on carpet and bare flooring. My son whom is 13 years old collects Hot Wheels and he like it and thinks it works well. I don't know how durable this would be for rough playing being that it is plastic. By rough play I mean letting it crash into walls and such too many times. Or tossing it into a toy box and other toys being thrown on top of it.
