In the front, it has a dual independent suspension with a rack and pinion steering. In the back it uses an open differential system. Kids will learn a lot from the design about how components of a car actually work. My 7 yo boys needed some help here and there to put it together, but they finished the vast majority on their own. There are a few foibles in the build though. The system eats batteries... you need high density high drain NiMh batteries if you want them to last any duration of use. Also, the battery pack is VERY tight fitting making it difficult to swap batteries in/out. Lastly, the peformance is weak. It barely climbs a 10 degree incline. it's slow and loud. it's quite terrible as an RC car. BUT... the app is usable, and pairing to an android device is quick and easy. The throttle control is great and so is the proportional steering.
