They are about 1in wide and 2 in long. They also feel kind of cheap and possibly like the wheels can break easily. I would say the age for these shpuld be 4 and up. She has a car rug so she likes playing with them on that. Her favorite feature is that they can connect on the ends to form a &quot;train&quot;. They did keep coming apart as she was playing with them and it would make her mad. I was expecting the cars to be a bit larger than they were but they were still a lot of fun and really cute. The quality of the toys is great and I expect them to last a while. Upon examining the packaging, I like how simple it was, easy instructions and easy to rip apart. I thought there were a lot of great details in each character. When I showed it to my son, the first thing he did was taking out his train tracks to see if they would fit. It was to my surprise that two of them did, and two didn't. I examined the wheels and noticed they were not made with the same wheel width. The connecting part also didn't stay very well, and keeps coming apart while my son tried to pull the trains. Overall I think it was really cute, but lack the quality. Knowing the 4th movie is coming out, I used these 4 cars to build familiarity and as small rewards for good behavior at swimming and dance lessons. The cars are about the width of an iphone (similar in size to a Little People Wheelie car) and each car can be hooked together. My daughter raced them, pulled them along like a train, played bumper cars and ran them through an old little people racetrack. My daughter has enjoyed them and is now interested in the coordinating carnival race toy. The only downside is that the new carnival race track includes duplicate cars fro this set. These were a great value for the amount of play and portability. I have accidentally stepped on a car and it survived. She currently loves Toy Story. She was super excited and immediately wanted them open. The cars connect together to make a train so she loves to connect them and make train sounds. Only complaint is the cars connectors some connect better than others. I do have to help her reconnect them quite often. It has been the perfect size to throw in my purse to keep her entertain at restaurants, in the car, and when she has to tagalong to various activities.
