The animals are not too small for tiny hands. My daughter is two and loves playing with them. The tops of the trees come off easily and the rocks are small, so removing those would prevent any choking hazards. Sturdy plastic to prevent bending and warping, my only complaint is that the animals all not to scale, the dog is the same size as the cow in this set.
