It is not a solid base but rather, 4 identical pieces that fit together well. The lid also came in 4 sections and the head attaches to the base. It came in a smaller box which is great for shipping and I&rsquo;m sure it makes warehouse storage and store shelving easier too. Putting it together was fairly easy, if not a little tricky to get right the first time. But I easily got it put together in about 20-25 minutes.
