It comes preloaded with batteries. The doggie &quot;says&quot; a variety of phrases including one that sounds an awful lot like I love you. Both my son and daughter have had the best time playing with Waggie as they named her. They take turns walking her and making sure they do their puppy chores. She saw the commercials for it and tells me every time that she just HAS to have it. So I&rsquo;m sure you can imagine the thrill and excitement she felt when she unwrapped her very own furReal walkalots pup! She is obsessed with this thing. She walks it inside, she walks it outside. She walks it to breakfast and she walks it to bed. I&rsquo;m glad it&rsquo;s keeping her attention and keeping her away from screens. That is how cute it is. It makes silly sounds that are endearing, except for the farting sound, which is my 5-year-old nephew's favorite part of the toy. My 1 year old niece is in love with it and wants to sleep with it all the time, which I wish she could do, but there is not off button (?) which I found interesting. She loves to walk it with the real dogs as she cannot hold them by the leash b/c they are too strong. The noise level is great, not too loud to be annoying and I have not found him to just randomly go off unprovoked. This pup was happily ruffing in the box and making sounds when it was received before I even opened box my daughter was beyond excited at the sound of this pup. The pup is very soft and the tone of colors are very natural and beautiful. They eyes are very large and have amazing detail. The pups ears are a very nice side and fits perfectly with size of head. The head wobbles and tale is movable as well. I love the collar really gives this pup a nice pop of color that holds securely in place. The bottom wheel makes this pup easy to glide across the floor with a simple puh and holds this pup us steady. The battery location is on bottom and I love I do not have to search through the fur to find where to put batteries. It does a few noises and these are very cute puppy noises that my 3 year old loves to hear, you can hear them distinctively and clearly. It also farts, How fun is that! The leash is very easy to put on and take apart comes apart in 3 pieces.
