He adores fire engines and was very excited about this when I gave it to him and really enjoys playing with it. We do not own any of the Trackmaster sets, but my son plays with this both independently and in conjunction with his other Thomas and Friends trains. Since the train does not move that quickly when turned on, he tends to push it along faster than it would otherwise go but like our other Fisher Price toys, this seems to be able to handle his rough play without issue. The fire hose on the trailing car which links to Fiery Flynn rotates so that your child can pivot and point it to put out imaginary fires, which is fantastic for imaginary play; however, the pivoting hose nozzle detaches quite easily. I have two boys ages 3&amp;4 and they both enjoyed playing with it. I did have a little trouble installing the batteries but that was a reading comprehension failure. The fire truck moves pretty fast and I was impressed with its power. We have wooden tracks and my boys were able to run the truck in them. They really enjoyed the extra trailer cart and were able to attach it themselves. They also liked that the fire truck could push other train cars around the track.
