The remote sucks, as you have to be within like 10 feet and in direct line of sight of the machine. So you basically have to be standing in the room looking at the machine to use it... May as well just push the button on the machine at that point. Also there are only 2 settings for volume control. One of which I consider to be too loud to ever use. The other is the maximum volume I would use but would rather have a quieter setting. It's also very bright as well with no dimming control, though it will auto dim over time. The kids seem to go into a bit of a trance when looking at it... So that's nice lol. Overall I guess it does the trick. Yes, we changed the batteries. No, it wasn't stored with batteries. I am in the process of sleep training her, and this seems to help a lot so far. Not only does it help calms and soothe her, but it gives her something else to focus on besides wanting momma. There are two volume settings and four different settings for the soother. The different settings are music and light, just music, ocean sound and light, and just ocean sound. The sea creatures move when it is on a setting with light and noise. If it is just on a noise you still have the option to turn on the light, but the sea creatures will not move on this setting. The soother needs four C batteries. It comes with a strap attachment so that you have the option to either hang it up on your crib or set it on a nightstand. The strap attachment was straight-forward and easy to set-up. It fit my crib perfectly. The remote that it comes allows you too turn the soother on or off. It only works from 12 feet away. Unfortunately, even if you are within a 12-foot radius if the door to the bedroom is closed the remote will not work, making the remote almost useless for me since I wanted it so I could turn the soother on or off without my toddler seeing me. This is really a lifesaver for me as this helps my little one with his night-time sleep issue. This soother can be used as either a stand-alone or crib mounted or in the car back seat, I am using it as a stand-alone as my baby is a fussy sleeper and doesn't stay in the crib most of the times. Mounting is simple, just wrap the holder on the crib frame and slide securely the soother in the mount. This has a couple of sound settings, one is regular and the other is slightly louder. Four different sound options are available with lights on or off. The good thing is it has an on-off button at the front too which can be used by the baby as well. The remote control allows accessing the soother once it is off after the default time is over. This really helps the baby to fall asleep easily and they wake up refreshed. The initial timer is for 25 minutes but can be played again using the remote. The baby really likes to watch the sea animals moving while the music is on. My little one loves this toy, we have been using this for more than a week and so far it works very well. This is portable so you can take it on vacation too. There are two volume controls but I find it a little loud on the lowest setting. Although the volume and lights decreases in 10-minute increments, I wish I can adjust the volume to my liking; a dial volume control will work better. You can use this with no lights, no motion, just music/white noise, or you can play it all together. My son loves to play everything, though the battery life is great, I think it would be a great addition if you have the option to plug it in. It came with an infrared remote control and you can also turn it on and off with the star button on the toy (my son gets up to turn it on using this) and control the lights with the button on the top right. The crib attachment design is great, after installing, you have an option to leave the attachment and just take off the toy so you do not need to re-adjust the next time you hook it up. Also, 4 C batteries were included and already installed on the toy, mine came in with no defects and corrosion. It is a great soother overall. I highly recommend! This sweet lovable crib soother plays soft lullaby's and has motion and light to keep baby engaged. I really like the option to turn off music when baby is fully asleep. This is one of the few toys my baby actually uses as a new baby. It is very easy to assemble and comes with a little cute remote that requires some batteries. The strap at the back can be adjusted to fit your crib. We are training our baby to go from sleeping in a bedside bassinet to a crib and we put this on for him at night. The blue light also serves as a night light for us which is an added plus. Within minutes he is able to fall asleep on his own. We love the size of this product because it fits perfectly on our crib. We love this crib soother and would purchase this to gift all the new babies in our family. It is so beautiful. The scene has beautiful colors, lights and animal figures. It was very simple to set up as well, you pull two tabs and the main unit starts up. The remote and attachment on the back make this very simple to install on a crib as well. The additional piece just slides on the back of the toys. My son seemed to think it was interesting. He watched it somewhat like a show. The music that plays is very comforting and I could see this being great to put a baby to sleep.
