They work even better if you hold a light over them for a few minutes from your phone or something. The first thing we noticed about the Orbeez is that they come already hydrated. We thought we would have to put them in water first, but they are ready to play with! We dumped them into a larger container and followed the instructions (you need to shine your cell phone flashlight on them to get them to glow). They do indeed glow! They are very bright. They are squishy and slimy and the kids enjoyed playing with them for a little while. They are great for sensory play. My 8 year old enjoyed scooping them up in a shovel and putting them in smaller containers. They do bounce and get away from you if you drop them and because they are clear in the light-it is hard to find them. I have stepped on a few. They are very creative and love crafting and building. I love that the Orbeez come sealed and ready to use. We received the Glow in the Dark Orbeez which really light up and are so cool! My kids decided to use theirs to create nightlights we got inexpensive jars with a good seal, which they filled with Orbeez. Its such an easy and straight forward craft and gives kids confidence when they can make something independently. Plus they love how quick it is to put together! These little balls arent sticky at all and are low/no mess which is a plus for me. I love that we could reuse they for multiple crafts though I think they are pretty attached to their little night lights. I feel it would be more fun and would have longer play duration if the toy included sone fun containers too, so kids can play with transferring them around in them.
