He loves it so much. It is so cool and fun for us both to play with. It is foam so it does not hut if he accidently gets me with it. It has a little part in the handle where the foam bullet goes. The button is very easy to push to launch it as well, so it works well for his small hands. It's so cool! The sword is a somewhat squishy foam, not hard plastic, and comes with 4 nerf darts. You can use it to shoot the darts or as a play sword. You prime it to shoot the darts by pulling the back of the sword out. When it arrived my oldest child immediately unpackaged it, my remaining children thought it was just a Minecraft sword, they were surprised and thrilled that it was really a Nerf gun. All three of my kids are really loving to play with it. Our one and only very slight disappointment is that there is no place to hold the extra bullets. It holds one bullet so you have to hold the rest and reload. We end up with so many nerf bullets in the house when we are having a battle that this isn't an issue for us.
