See the internet for posts on this issue. Resetting the clock to a date in Dec 20 did not work. Deleting the App and reinstalling did not work. FORTUNATELY, by searching, the printed instructions for all sets are available for download. This allowed ability to assemble a large Mario set, without the App, on New Year&rsquo;s Day. The starter set was assembled via the App before 01 Jan 21, but the instructions left a lot to be desired. Once all the modules were assembled, via a working App, you are left hanging. Fortunately, the box shows how all the modules can be placed. Note: Grandson is happy with the starter set and second set assembled.. My wife and I are experienced with simple through complex builds. My most complex build was the Porsche 911 RSR (42096), which was then motorized (e.g. wiring, gearing, two battery boxes, new controller). Other sets we have customized as well. Too bad Mario is such a huge disappointment. LEGO needs to fix the App ASAP. Building instructions are only viewable through an app on my phone, so at best I have to give up my phone for the day. However, the app keeps crashing and we can no longer view the instructions. The next option is to download the instructions (huge files!) and view them through my laptop...so I have to give my laptop to a five year old! This is just awful. NONE OF THESE SETS INCLUDE THE PAPER INSTRUCTION BOOK. So this great toy that was screen free now requires a screen. The best part is that for this set you have to have a device that will hook up to Mario before you can begin building on the app, so the outdated stuff our kids have did not work. We did finally find pdf versions online but it was a freaking pain. And it's not like they saved any money on not giving us paper instructions because there was still a nice thick advertisement booklet in the box. I know this is like first world problems but finding a device to work, getting it charged, and all the kids having to wait for their turn to get their instructions just made it all a pain that would have been avoided with paper instructions. The set itself has been fun and worked well. The toy is defective and because it is licensed you can't purchase or receive another Mario by itself from Lego. You would have to pay another $60 for a replacement started kit IF... you can find one. Very disappointing and not very &quot;Lego&quot; like. They were large sets that were just not that fun to look at/display. These sets are really designed to be *played* with by younger children. I did not enjoy doing the coin collecting at all. I ended up sending the entire set to a friend with younger children. Both my self and the children were disappointment that there were not paper building instructions. I understand what LEGO is going for, but I (and the kids) just didn't like it. Also wish you could purchase Mario independently as my other kids would love him but don&rsquo;t need the whole set as such. I understand the interactive element of the game and being able to create levels and I think this is extremely clever. However my son didn&rsquo;t like that he couldn&rsquo;t start again with his &lsquo;world&rsquo; on the app. But the worst thing is he needs access to an app to build the sets to start with. He is 9 and doesn&rsquo;t have his own phone and has limited screen time and as a result I have sets STILL IN THEIR BOXES nearly 6 months later that he hasn&rsquo;t built. This never happens! He himself states he doesn&rsquo;t like that it requires a device to build and he&rsquo;s really lost interest in all his sets of Mario as a result and doesn&rsquo;t want any more! I&rsquo;d urge you to add in paper copies of the main build as well as the online aspect for children like my son who don&rsquo;t have ready access to screens.
