I love to build Lego buildings. With this set you build a nice building but its way way to small to be anything worth playing with and adding to your Lego street build. I'm saddened that we get one bookcase, and actual book.... If its a bookstore we should have had several actual books and several bookcases not ONE. If you took away the title Bookstore on front would you know it was a bookstore no.... I did enjoy the grandfather clock build but the rooms are again very very small so that one piece of furniture in each room is about all that can fit in the space. Next time I suggest make just the bookstore and just a townhome model I'd pay for each building as long as it was the size of both buildings in this kit. Such a waste of space. The townhouses one bit of awesome was the basement which turned out to have no space for the characters to stand. I liked the pumpkin patch but it doesn't make up for the lack of kitchen and bathroom. I get that these are toy houses but when even the massive tree house is more realistic there is something wrong. I can't see any children playing with this too much and honestly to make me feel anything other than 'well I did that' I need to somehow add all the features it is currently lacking which will add extra cost to the already pricey $AUD cost. Great set to build together with a friend or partner as you can each work on a seperate building at the same time. The build techniques were more straight forward than some of the past modulars but nonetheless the build experience was enjoyable and still presented some interesting elements/features such as the roof texture of the townhouse and the arch of the front door to the bookshop. There has been some criticism around the lack of books in the bookstore as well as general comments around the interior detail. whilst having a bookshop - &ldquo;wall to wall&rdquo; of books would have looked fantastic I&rsquo;m mindful that unlike some other modular sets, this set contains 2 seperate buildings for a similar piece count. It is not overly difficult, yet at times challenging. The structure of the building is perhaps more solid than other modular buildings which enhances the play experience, and although a subjective comment, the birch tree adds a new and appealing element to the modular series. The absence of stickers/decals is very pleasing. My only gripe however is the lack of support from Lego in regard to colour blindness and the instruction book. More than 10% of the male population alone are colour blind, yet Lego have not attempted to assist those with this disability, and which can be easily rectified through the use of numbers. So many colours which Lego are using are similar, and identifying colour of a piece the size of a stud for example can be frustrating. Changeable leaves for the birch tree. I feel the autumn leaves do not fit with my city and so I will be changing them with spare green leaves, I feel this could have been supplied with the model like with the tree house from Lego Ideas. The building experience was really enjoyable, and there were a few unique and challenging building techniques used throughout, notably the archway above the door to the bookshop. Both buildings look great from the front, especially the apartment with the bay window and the details on the roof, and I appreciate the pumpkin patch at the back to keep it from looking too bland like many of the previous modulars. The sides have some different colours from the interior decorations sticking out, but this is fairly unavoidable, and wouldn't be noticed if there were other modulars placed next to them. However, it touched a subject near and dear to my heart. I am a huge bibliophile and often would go to my local bookshops or library frequently. So while I have not bought a set in some time my already existing love for lego was increased ten fold by this charming little set. The details for both buildings are amazing with each following a an established pattern set by their colors. The bookshop having an autumn theme with the cozy second floor with its simple but affective set up and pleasant little balcony area that invites one to set up the figures to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. While the little town house is occupied by a small family and giving a feeling of spring with the garden and little collection of plants here and there. While there is only one actual lego book (wonderful piece btw with a great pun) the shelves of the book store are still great for what they are. The build was fun, the main colors of the buildings look nice together, and it fits right in with my other two modular buildings. One odd thing is that one of the pieces looks like its marbled when I&rsquo;m pretty sure it shouldn&rsquo;t be but, its not a huge deal because you can only see it from the side. I do think this set could use a little more interior detail, particularly in the apartment above the book store but I can always do that myself using my frankly ridiculously huge collection of legos. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money for something stressful. I am so glad I found this. I hope the Parisian diner comes back!! I read other reviews and because this was my first experience with kit building i cannot speak to the size of this one compared to others. I will say I wouldn't have minded something larger for the price and the spaces are somewhat small for the Lego people. I do agree with another reviewer I would have liked to have seen more interior spaces to design for the apartment portion and more books for the bookstore. Overall I truly enjoyed this.
