I love to build Lego buildings. With this set you build a nice building but its way way to small to be anything worth playing with and adding to your Lego street build. I'm saddened that we get one bookcase, and actual book.... If its a bookstore we should have had several actual books and several bookcases not ONE. If you took away the title Bookstore on front would you know it was a bookstore no.... I did enjoy the grandfather clock build but the rooms are again very very small so that one piece of furniture in each room is about all that can fit in the space. Next time I suggest make just the bookstore and just a townhome model I'd pay for each building as long as it was the size of both buildings in this kit. Overall I'm sad that this set is so sparse for what was paid and it leaves me saddened that Lego could have done better by going a little bigger and adding a little bit more furniture to the build.
Date published: 2020-10-15

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Creator Bookshop The set is absolutely beautiful when finished, and challenging to assemble. Such a waste of space. The townhouses one bit of awesome was the basement which turned out to have no space for the characters to stand. I liked the pumpkin patch but it doesn't make up for the lack of kitchen and bathroom. I get that these are toy houses but when even the massive tree house is more realistic there is something wrong. I can't see any children playing with this too much and honestly to make me feel anything other than 'well I did that' I need to somehow add all the features it is currently lacking which will add extra cost to the already pricey $AUD cost. Great set to build together with a friend or partner as you can each work on a seperate building at the same time. The build techniques were more straight forward than some of the past modulars but nonetheless the build experience was enjoyable and still presented some interesting elements/features such as the roof texture of the townhouse and the arch of the front door to the bookshop. There has been some criticism around the lack of books in the bookstore as well as general comments around the interior detail. whilst having a bookshop - “wall to wall” of books would have looked fantastic I’m mindful that unlike some other modular sets, this set contains 2 seperate buildings for a similar piece count. As a result, Interior space in each of the buildings are going to be much more limited but the designer still did a fantastic job and what you get is still very nice and level of detail (imo) is consistent if not better than some of the past modulars such as Pet shop, place cinema, town hall etc etc where criticism about lack of interior detail could also be made.
Date published: 2020-08-16

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheGentleman from It looks like a rushed set Visually, I think the set is very beautiful. Color choices, the shape of the buildings, the whole look is great ! And I am extremely happy that his set is not a corner one. We have too many corner modulars compared to the straith ones. How many corners are we suppose to have in our city mocs ? lol. Now, where it goes bad is the lack for attention to details inside the building. A design very limited. The basement is just too poor, I mean, you got a table with something on it (I don't even know what it is) and the ground of the basement is not even covered (green from the starter plaque). And the set is very very light compared to all the other modulars. With all due respect, you know what I think ? I think LEGO was short on time and had to rush for designing and releasing this set. They sure went like "Oh no! Already the time to put a new modular on the shelves ?!?! We forgot ! Hurry up !" lol probably not that exact way, but still, I am sure it was something like it, because it really looks like LEGO was really rushed on time for this one. I hope the next modular will be better.
Date published: 2020-08-04

Rated 2 out of 5 by Sidneyward from Some nice details but overall a disappointment As a fan of the moduler series I look forward to each set released. This sadly, has been the first set to disappoint me. It is very similar in design to the Pet Shop and House set from 2010 in respect to its layout, levels and the spirit of the detail included. The build was easy to complete and didn't take a lot of time. The bookshop's exterior had some nice details to it as did the house but due to their size the detail inside was very sparse.
Date published: 2020-08-03

Rated 3 out of 5 by Grae from Excellent, but...... The Book Shop is a modular building which every Lego enthusiast should enjoy. It is not overly difficult, yet at times challenging. The structure of the building is perhaps more solid than other modular buildings which enhances the play experience, and although a subjective comment, the birch tree adds a new and appealing element to the modular series. The absence of stickers/decals is very pleasing. My only gripe however is the lack of support from Lego in regard to colour blindness and the instruction book. More than 10% of the male population alone are colour blind, yet Lego have not attempted to assist those with this disability, and which can be easily rectified through the use of numbers. So many colours which Lego are using are similar, and identifying colour of a piece the size of a stud for example can be frustrating. It is such a pity that a company like Lego do not work towards providing a means by which colour blind people may also be able to enjoy this wonderful form of leisure and relaxation.
Date published: 2020-08-03

Rated 4 out of 5 by Martine from Sympa Montage facile et assez rapide.interieur simple pour une librairie.Il manque vraiment plus d'éléments .Mais ce complète vraiment assez bien avec les autres modulaire . They seem to be drifting into being no more than expensive City Sets. The colour range is becoming cartoonish eccentric, while the size of them is shrinking. I don't feel like there are enough generic houses to fit in the city, that can look as elegant as the other buildings as part of the modular series. I think the set is very nice and I got this the day it was released in January. The things I would change for this set would be 1. More books, this has probably been raised in other reviews but there is just not enough books in this set, although I do appreciate that there is the idea of books with the bookshelves in the shop. 2. Changeable leaves for the birch tree. I feel the autumn leaves do not fit with my city and so I will be changing them with spare green leaves, I feel this could have been supplied with the model like with the tree house from Lego Ideas. Altogether I really do reccomend this set.
Date published: 2020-06-26

Rated 4 out of 5 by CreatorLover from Good detail modular building My wife and I enjoyed this build, particularly the stairwell in the bookshop, the way the roof was built and the tree outside. I was a little disappointed in the bookshop’s interior; there aren’t a lot of books and the upper floors are basic. The townhouse was more thought out in my opinion. I love the mouse trap in the basement and the first floor’s sitting area containing a fireplace and table with a teapot and newspaper. As for the exterior of this set, I appreciate the birch tree with a perched bird. I also like the color scheme and “Birch Books” sign. This was the first one which caught my eye and convinced me when it was revealed. The building experience was really enjoyable, and there were a few unique and challenging building techniques used throughout, notably the archway above the door to the bookshop. Both buildings look great from the front, especially the apartment with the bay window and the details on the roof, and I appreciate the pumpkin patch at the back to keep it from looking too bland like many of the previous modulars. The sides have some different colours from the interior decorations sticking out, but this is fairly unavoidable, and wouldn't be noticed if there were other modulars placed next to them. The interiors have lots of nice details (I'm a particular fan of the design for the bed in the bookshop, and the bottom floor of the apartment) and the entire build looks great on display.
Date published: 2020-06-09

Rated 5 out of 5 by HooliganLXV from Amusing and Detailed Set This is the first serious set I have bought myself in years. However, it touched a subject near and dear to my heart. I am a huge bibliophile and often would go to my local bookshops or library frequently. So while I have not bought a set in some time my already existing love for lego was increased ten fold by this charming little set. The details for both buildings are amazing with each following a an established pattern set by their colors. The bookshop having an autumn theme with the cozy second floor with its simple but affective set up and pleasant little balcony area that invites one to set up the figures to enjoy a nice cup of coffee. While the little town house is occupied by a small family and giving a feeling of spring with the garden and little collection of plants here and there. While there is only one actual lego book (wonderful piece btw with a great pun) the shelves of the book store are still great for what they are. But it does look very cool and it makes a lovely display so I recommend to get this bookshop.
Date published: 2020-05-27

Rated 5 out of 5 by KittyFrog from I love it! I own three expert modular buildings so I am not the most experienced with this series and more experienced lego fans may have more useful things to say but I love this set. The build was fun, the main colors of the buildings look nice together, and it fits right in with my other two modular buildings. One odd thing is that one of the pieces looks like its marbled when I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t be but, its not a huge deal because you can only see it from the side. I do think this set could use a little more interior detail, particularly in the apartment above the book store but I can always do that myself using my frankly ridiculously huge collection of legos. I love this set and I cant wait to see what lego does with this series next!
Date published: 2020-05-25

Rated 5 out of 5 by DrKitagawa from Nice upgrades from other modular sets I love the upgrades in the flowers and leaves. Also the railing and bedposts. But overall create detail and colors. The house is so cute inside. At first I wasn’t sure about the birch tree but I’m starting to like it. This is my favorite of the 3 modular sets I’ve build. Diner was 2nd favorite then assembly hall.
Date published: 2020-05-23

Rated 5 out of 5 by Legomodfan from Beautiful I fell in love with the design at first sight and ordered immediately. We don't have any other modular buildings to combine this with yet, but on its own, the set looks fantastic and makes a great display piece. The colours of the bookshop and house complement each other really well, and the little architectural details are really nice. The bookshelves are a lot of fun to put together and look great, and a lot of cosy interior details bring some life to this set.
Date published: 2020-05-11

Rated 2 out of 5 by Chrissie from Overall disappointing I was really excited to get this as it looks so lovely in the picture but I was so underwhelmed building it and with the final result. The interior detail is really lacking due to the small size of each building and the back of both buildings is so boring. I am also really frustrated that the burgundy bricks that make the roof of the book shop are two different colours. My 11 year old son has still had lots of fun playing with the set but compared to the Diner and Assembly Square for example, this is well below par.
Date published: 2020-05-07

Rated 5 out of 5 by Korti from Fantastic build This was my very first ever Lego build and I loved every minute of it. The colour drew me in, gotta love #107 so thanks Lego for bringing it back. Being a novice I was able to follow the guide easily enough and errors by me were quickly and easily fixed. I loved building these especially the furniture. I've now purchased more that are ready and waiting to be built. Love the creator series. I'm now hooked!
Date published: 2020-05-07

Rated 5 out of 5 by Heids from Loved this!!! I loved this so much and had so much fun building! This was my first purchase and I have already purchased another creator kit. I'm pretty sure I will continue to buy these kits. The directions were easy to follow and I found the build easy as well. I understand some Lego fans wanting a challenge but I think they should look at other Lego products for that because to me this is relaxing and fun. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money for something stressful. I am so glad I found this. I hope the Parisian diner comes back!! I read other reviews and because this was my first experience with kit building i cannot speak to the size of this one compared to others. I will say I wouldn't have minded something larger for the price and the spaces are somewhat small for the Lego people. I do agree with another reviewer I would have liked to have seen more interior spaces to design for the apartment portion and more books for the bookstore. Overall I truly enjoyed this. Thank you so much Lego!!
Date published: 2020-05-01

LEGO Creator Expert Bookshop 10270 (2504 pieces) Reviews - page 7

y_2025, m_4, d_24, h_4

bvseo_bulk, prod_bvrr, vn_bulk_3.0.42

cp_6, bvpage2n

co_hasreviews, tv_5, tr_205

loc_en_CA, sid_147FFB7D, prod, sort_[SortEntry(order=SUBMISSION_TIME, direction=DESCENDING)]

clientName_toysrus-ca

bvseo_sdk, dw_cartridge, 18.2.0, p_sdk_3.2.0

CLOUD, getReviews, 5ms

reviews, product
