They enjoyed building it and it was actually my 4yr old who remained the most involved throughout the build. I could tell he had fun building and his younger sister got involved as well. It was a good activity to pass the time and to share with the family. The theme was fun, with lots of adventures and using the imagination. I had the set sitting around a few days and my son was so excited to start building and it gave him hours of enjoyment. It was a big set and my daughter was especially excited about the animals. We received it in the morning and my son helped my younger daughter make it. They spent all morning and afternoon making it according to the instructions. It kept them busy and quiet for ages (the true dream right). As soon as they finished they demolished it and created things from their imaginations. This set appeals to both boys and girls. I love that it&rsquo;s gender neutral. Not overly pink/&ldquo;girlie&rdquo;. I&rsquo;d recommend this set to everyone and anyone. My daughter who is almost 4yrs old decided she wanted to make it. But in all honesty, it&rsquo;s probably a bit more for 5 and up as my daughter sometimes skips steps. But i love that younger kids can be challenged to do it. The cheeky monkeys caused havoc, while the elephants meandered through our Lego City. It was so amazing to have a new aspect into our set, one that lead to meaningful conversations about wildlife conservation and protect; real issues that we could discuss with our children in a fun and gentle way. A great set for building together. We loved that once built you can continue to use for imaginative play and can change things around slightly to tell a different story. The instructions were clear and easy to understand, although on occasional my son did need a little bit of help. We love the little extra touches like bananas for the monkeys and the crocodile eggs, they are very cute and little details like this add to the fun. My son also loves putting stickers on the lego himself. This build set is the perfect addition for family time or 1:1 project with a parent, grandparent or sibling . This Lego build will take several hours to build. I recommend simply spread out over a few days to keep the fun going. There are several items that make this Lego build different than others . The interlocking parts (rocks) poseable arms and legs ( animals and people) a noticeable difference is the one piece torso of the rescue people (helpful). Additionally, With respect to the helicopter the moveable landing gear, the ability to open the cockpit, the enjoyment of being able to spin the blades and use the winch to pull up on the tree once it falls over. (Awesome) Lastly, the track truck is very unique because it allows for practical play . Finally, the base itself pulls all 525 of the pieces together and resembles a working operations center complete with a solar panel. For the Lego enthusiast this is an awesome build. Not only does it provide eye hand coordination it also helps fulfill the imagination of being in complete charge of the center.
