This set is perfect for the beginners. Instruction is very clear and she did this set by herself with a little help. My 5/7 yr olds were able to follow the steps and complete this with minimal assistance. Functionally, the box has enough commonality for both a boy and girl to use without gender discrimination. They have been playing with this for hours. Easy to follow instructions step by step we put it together in just less then an hour. Our family and my kids have not had much experience with Legos as much as some( in putting them together),and they found this set easy and not frustrating.
