It's wood so it's heavy and stable. The cute pink color looks well painted and hopefully won't fade or rub off with cleaning. The only issue was a plastic decoration that broke during assembly but KidKraft already replaced it at no cost-thanks. It was an instant hit and has provided hours and hours of fun play. The Stove/Sink area is big enough for two children to play, which is helpful now that we have a second granddaughter. This set is very well made and has lots of room to store all of their kitchen accessories.
