The set is very well made. The only downfall was the little cardboard tray included. The quality is fantastic - most of the food items are made of wood, but definitely not cheap wood. The pieces are heavy duty and brightly colored - very appealing. In addition, while this toy is not designed for kids under 3, there are not small pieces that we have to worry about our little one accidentally swallowing if our son forgets to clean up. We also love that the basket holds all the food pieces so clean up is easy and the toys are self-contained. We do wish it had more food pieces as there is only enough to make 1 sandwich plus fruit, a loaf of bread and dessert. The only negative is that one of our forks has a small chip of paint missing. It seems the paint chipped prior to being sealed though, so it doesn't feel like additional paint will come off. A couple of things that missed the mark: the packaging said both &ldquo;not for ages 0-3&rdquo; and &ldquo;for ages 3+&rdquo; which was strange. The knife was too wide to &ldquo;cut&rdquo; the three-piece bread and the sandwich meat looks like bubble gum. The materials are solid and great quality. There are two felt food items, but the rest are wooden. I feel comfortable using this as an outside toy. My kids absolutely love it! They use it indoors when the weather is bad, either in a fort or at the kitchen table. And when it&rsquo;s nice out, they enjoy a good picnic in the woods. She immediately asked me to turn off the show she was watching so she could go play with the picnic basket! I was amazed. As a teacher and a mom to two small children, I know the amazing learning that takes place when a child engages in pretend play. This toy is very well made with sturdy wooden pieces and a few high quality felt pieces. It has the potential for hours of pretend play and can easily be combined with other sets for even more fun. My daughter used this and a cake set to create a party for her dolls. I am excited to watch what else she comes up with! I also love the basket that it came in to both store the pieces and add to the pretend play. The only negative thing I would say about this is that a few pieces are hard to correctly identify such as the green pieces. It could be kiwi or it could be pickles. However, it just encourages children to think creatively so it isn't a huge deal. My 5-year old daughter enjoys playing with pretend food at our house, but we&rsquo;ve never seen a picnic set before. I wasn&rsquo;t sure how this play food and basket&rsquo;s quality would be in comparison to the toy food we already have, but upon receiving it it&rsquo;s fantastic. The basket is sturdy, most of the food is made of wood, others some kind of felt material. And the whole set was packaged so nicely - each food item individually wrapped in tissue paper so it wouldn&rsquo;t damage one another in transit or storage. My daughter enjoys spreading out the little blanket that&rsquo;s included on the floor and setting up the picnic. Most often she has pretended to play restaurant with her little sister or a picnic with her stuffed animals. But this set has also offered her freedom in imagination, as she can use the basket to store whatever toys she wants, or she will sometimes use the blanket as a dress-up accessory. My favorite part is the easy clean-up. All the food, utensils, cups, and blanket fit easily in the basket, and it&rsquo;s not an overwhelming amount of pieces (about 30 pieces, I believe). It came packaged directly in the plastic picnic basket, being held in by a piece of carboard to cover the top. Opening the item was it's own excitement. The first piece revealed was the picnic blanket, which immediately got laid down for us to start our picnic planning. Each piece was individually wrapped in tissue paper, and my daughter was ecstatic to see what new piece she would unveil. Piece by piece, our picnic was starting to come together, with sandwiches, cakes, bread, fruits, drinks and all the tableware needed. This item came with 17 food pieces, 12 tableware, a picnic basket and blanket. The lettuce and cheese were made of felt, which I think made the sandwich less bulky than had it all been made with wood. The loaf of bread has velcro, so your child can practice their cutting skills. The wooden pieces feel high quality, and the colors made it feel a lot more fun than some of the other bland wooden toys on the market. The only downfall was the cardboard platter that was included, ours was already falling apart while opening the product, so I'm not sure how long it will hold up. The food is made out of quality wood and is durable. It came with a variety of items perfect for a play picnic. She loves setting out the picnic blanket indoors or outdoors and will play for a very long time with or without me. The blanket does repel dirt and stains and the food is easily wiped down. She loves making pretend sandwiches and cutting the bread. She even uses the basket to carry around small stuffed animals and other items even when not playing with the food items. She was disappointed that the thermos does not unscrew/open, but from a parent&rsquo;s perspective at least less parts to lose. The design and colors are perfect. I love the whole style of this toy. It is high quality and durable, and seems like a toy that can be handed down multiple times even if the child outgrows it or loses interest. The picnic set is absolutely adorable. It comes with everything you need. There are two sets of utensils, two plates, two cups, and enough food and accessories to go around. The baguette is attached by velcro and can be &quot;cut&quot; into 3 pieces. There's a small version of a reusable water bottle which I've never seen before. There's also a ton of sandwich ingredients as well as a small basket for dessert which includes cake and fruit. The set does come with a blanket but it's small. You can fit all the food on it but definitely not two kids. My 3 year old daughter barely fits. The bread for the sandwich is made of wood and super slippery so it's difficult to stack. Everything fits back into the basket so great for clean up. Overall, this set is great. It comes with every item you would need to have the most delicious pretend picnic. The items are very modern in design and decor. The colors are beautiful muted colors - a nice change up from other kid toys and their bright colors. Only downfall is the food tray for the charcuterie board is just thin cardboard. It can easily be repaired with tape, but the tray for sure won&rsquo;t last very long when you have toddler and young kids around. My 4 year old enjoyed playing pretend with me and the pieces are just the right size for her little hands but yet big enough for bigger people to join in the fun. The one and only thing I would like to be different would be maybe adding velcro or texture on the sandwich pieces and plates. My little one was frustrated because they kept slipping off the plate and the sandwich would not stay together while she was passing it. The basket it the perfect side to hold all the pieces and more.
