It makes for a fun and whimsical time and it&rsquo;s also just very cute to hear my son speak to them to get in on the action. The trains and cars are very well built and take a beating nicely. We do wish the tracks were a bit more sturdy as when the trains goes up the bridge it becomes a little flimsy and sometimes the train gets stuck. We modified the bridge set up to work but out the gate it didn&rsquo;t sit well enough without a little extra finagling on our part. My daughter and I love watching Thomas the train. So why not get her,bher own mini train to play with. The train is very easy to put together that my daughter takes it a part and puts it back together herself. It's very durable and the colors are very accurate with what you see on tv. This makes for hours of fun. We love that the trains talk to each other. The size it just right for little hands. My daughter can't put this down. It comes with Thomas the engine and Bruno the brake car. My son was so excited when he realized that the characters talked to each other. They also communicate with other characters from Mattel sets! The package includes very simple to follow instructions to build the set pictured on the package. The parts come in a fun variety of colors, which just adds to the play experience. Each piece has a part number on the bottom to make it even easier if your child wants to help assemble. The parts are color coordinated so similar type pieces have similar codes. We put it together the first time for him, and he enjoyed it for many, many days. After a bit, he took it apart and made it his own. This is a great toy to inspire imaginative play and engineering thinking. It has provided many, many hours of fun already! These trains talk with each other. He was very excited that it was a train set and Thomas. The directions are ok, they are not great though. The numbering and lettering system is odd and meant I had to double check things. 1,2,3 or A,B,C, would have been easier. It&rsquo;s also not easy to assemble. It&rsquo;s a bit hard to get the pieces to snap together. You have to push rather hard and there is no way my 3 year old could put any part of it together on his own but our 6 year old could with some instruction. My son loved the trains talking and was very excited about it going around the track. My husband also played with him and the train set. He agrees that it&rsquo;s too complicated for our 3 year old to do without pretty constant help. The trains will jump the track and need to go back on and it&rsquo;s too fine a motor skill for our little one to get it himself. Our 6 year old daughter played with it for a bit too. She is not a train buff but liked them going around the track and talking. She could put them on the track with no problem. I understand that they talk to one another but getting them to do that isn't exactly easy. I feel like I was always pressing buttons at the wrong moment. Overall, it was ok. Not amazing though. Our son did love the trains themselves and wanted to get the other trains he saw on the packaging. It has kept them entertained for hours. There are two different ways to set the track which is outlined in the instructions and it is easy enough my kids can change the tracks themselves. The tracks are labeled underneath to make the instructions easy to follow. They can put the track other ways it just won't fully connect. There are other sets with different characters and they can all connect together. This set came with Bruno and Thomas who &quot;talk&quot; to each other but they'll also &quot;talk&quot; with other trains in this set which is so fun! Bruno tells jokes and my kids love that. The track and trains are plastic which is a bit disappointing but it does make it able to have twists and bumps in the track. Both trains require batteries which aren't included. There isn't an off button but if you hold down the red start button that will turn the trains off. The only problem is one press of that same button turns them back on. We store our trains in a box so sometimes we hear them after we've turned them off. It's easy for kids at least to turn them on. We played with it on carpet and hard wood floors and it did amazing no issues.
