My 7 year old loved the packaging shape which looks like an egg. Makes a good deco for her room. It was easy to open and easy to setup. She was able to use it without charging it. Setting up is a breeze. Was able to use with minimal instructions. She felt the start up button is kind of not user friendly and stopping the toy doll was another issue she didnt like. Once the start button is pressed the toy doll take couple of second to start which is kind of good. It was entertaining to see the toy doll float and flutter. It did however bump in wall or furniture. Slight bump caused it to loose the motion or balance and fall hard in the floor. This is something I feel makes the doll more vulnerable to breakage considering the toy doll body is light. She was so careful when opening up the gem container. She wondered what was inside. After we opened it and charged it, we were ready to play. We started up the fairy in a large open space inside. She flies up and around the room. We had to be careful that she doesn't crash into any walls. If she gets close, you can gently grab her and move her. It flew straight up in the air and bobbed about. It would hover over my daughter's hand just as the instructions said it would. This toy worked great and kept my daughter giggling with joy as we tried it out. It is super easy and fast to charge. As it flew, it bumped the cupboard and wall but there wasn't a mark on anything including the toy. I am not sure who was more excited, myself or my preteen daughter!! This toy brings back such nostalgic joy from a similar toy I had when I was a little girl. It was not only fun to unbox, fun to see as the colors are such an amazing bright pink with a hint of blue in the sparkles! It took a second to figure out how to get her to fly (little pink switch under the skirt) but once we got her flying did she ever fly! I love the fact that we ended up losing a wing when she bumped into a window but the plastic used for the wings I believe was specifically designed not to break. It was very easily replaced. It also charges so no battery buying required! Which is a om win for sure! And a fantastic way to keep the kids entertained for hours. The packaging was very neatly done and described what it was perfectly. Hatchimals have released some very cool toys that my kids enjoyed and are still enjoying, but as a 80's mom the nostalgia of this particular toy gives it a 5 out of 5. I would definitely buy this again for gifts. I am amazed at the quality, durability and even price point on this gift!
