A total of 50 surprises that include a Barbie and a Chelsea doll and two pets. Each of these is also covered in the surprise covering that you reveal in water. After opening the instructions you realize they have turned this into a game. There is a spinner so that you can open the surprises based on what you spin. If you play it this way it will take awhile instead of just ripping through the surprises. I found this to be my favorite color reveal because it wasn't over quick, it added to the fun. Some of the boxes that hold the surprises can be used for more imaginative play. Of course all the accessories that come with this set are great for creating parties for your Barbies. Even the box itself becomes a prop you can use. The top opens and there is an unboxing game. We took turns spining the game piece to see which box we needed to open. Definitely made opening all the surprise boxes that much better. There are two rows of surprise boxes to open. I think my daughter's favorite was unboxing the pets. After all the unboxing, it was time to do the big reveal. This Color Reveal set included a color reveal barbie, color reveal Chelsea doll, and two color reveal pets. My daughter loved giving them a bath in the water tube to wash away the metallic paint. All the metallic paint washes away easily in the warm water. My daughter had fun drying each of them off and dressing them up and fixing their new hair. She took them all back to the box they came in and set it up to look like a dance floor and dj booth. We were able to play dance party. This is the gift that keeps giving. My daughter had hours of fun playing with these toys. It took us over an hour to open everything! It was a box of wonders. My 5 year old needed some help opening everything- The box says 3+ but I would recommend for age 6-8 based on the amount of help necessary. The set comes with a spinner game to help with unboxing. We didn&rsquo;t end up using that at all. My daughter opened the boxes in numerical order, which was fine and did not interfere with the unboxing process. We opened the dog and cat first. I know they are surprises since their bags had question marks on them. However the instructions have the picture of what the Hidden items will look like. My daughter says she liked the pets the best because they were covered in a pink and purple coating, as opposed to the gray coating for Barbie and Chelsea. It was also easier to remove the coating on the pets than on the dolls. Even though I scrubbed with the provided sponge, I was not able to get all the gray coating off of Chelsea&rsquo;s hands. I liked that even the boxes themselves were interesting- some of them are boom boxes for the party and a group of them make a puzzle. The main thing I did not like in the set was the confetti. It was a complete mess and I still find confetti pieces even after cleaning up and putting away the set. Beyond that, it is a lovely set. My daughter liked playing that it was Chelsea&rsquo;s birthday (like the movie). Make sure you remove the coating in a place that is easily cleaned. I know the coating dripped on our carpet when we were trying to remove it with water! I personally loved Barbie&rsquo;s wig. I have a pixie haircut myself (like the doll) and had never considered wearing wigs. It was very colorful and visually appealing, and I appreciated that there wasn't all of the plastic wrappers used in most other surprise toys. My daughter (6) loved the wig and camera as well as the pets. She enjoyed the disco ball confetti dropper, but was underwhelmed by the cardboard punch out photo props and backdrops. She kept all of the boxes and rearranges them when she plays with this set, but it doesn't hold her attention like the other Barbie reveal sets we have gotten. There were so many surprises to open and it kept her busy for over an hour. She loved the fun hair on Barbie and the confetti disco ball was a fun surprise! The unboxing of everything was definitely the highlight. She opened it all up, set it up and played for quite awhile. I loved how colorful everything was and it was quite easy to set up. As a parent I have one suggestion, the instructions for the spinner were not totally clear. I ended up taking the spinner out of the plastic cap which I was not supposed to do and had to tape it back in. The only other issue I had was she ripped some of the small boxes open when she was unboxing, so we couldn't use those for the accessories for the tables like was shown. Maybe it would be good to have those be a little more durable or a not that says to open them carefully.
